The BASBM Conference 2025 was another great success, and the SCG Midlands team was delighted to be part of it. The day provided a fantastic opportunity to catch up with many of our existing education customers and to meet new schools, academies, and multi-academy trusts from across the Midlands.
Our stand was busy throughout the event, with conversations focusing on how schools can make their technology safer, smarter, and more sustainable – all while managing tight budgets and increasing digital demands.
Cyber Security Remains a Top Priority
One of the biggest discussion points of the day was cyber security. School Business Managers were eager to talk about how they can protect staff and students from ever-evolving online threats.
Topics included:
- Student safeguarding online – ensuring pupils stay safe on school networks.
- Protection from hacking and ransomware – keeping data and systems secure.
- Email protection and phishing prevention – strengthening first-line defences.
- Air-gapped backups – a crucial step to ensure data recovery in the event of an attack.
Our team shared practical advice and demonstrated how SCG Midlands helps schools implement affordable, effective cyber protection as part of a wider managed IT service.
Managed IT Support for Schools
Another popular topic was managed IT support – particularly how schools can maintain reliable support without over-stretching internal teams.
Whether schools needed:
- Project support for upgrades or migrations,
- Holiday cover to ensure continuity, or
- A fully outsourced managed IT service,
We were able to show how SCG Midlands offers flexible, partnership-driven support tailored to each school’s needs.
